The Willamette Valley Old-Time Social will be hosting a day of workshops for fiddle, banjo, guitar, voice, square dance calling and voice at the Shedd! $20 will get you free access to all workshops, including the one with Bruce Molsky and the Mountain Drifters!

And, a String Band Workshop with two-time Grammy-nominated fiddler Bruce Molsky and his Mountain Drifters-Allison de Groot and Stash Wyslouch! Participants will have the opportunity to play fiddle, guitar, or banjo with one of America’s most respected old-time fiddlers, Bruce Molsky, as well as clawhammer banjo player Allison de Groot and guitarist Stash Wyslouch. Participants will be divided into small groups to learn some tunes, and then join back together to play as a larger group

To make sure we can all get the most out of the workshop sessions, please get to the room on time and have your instrument tuned and ready to go. Workshops are all 50 min. each, except for the Molsky’s Mountain Drifters String Band Workshop which will be 90 min. Recording devices are strongly encouraged!

This event is part of a whole weekend of activities! Mud City Old-Time Society is hosting the third annual old-time music and dance celebration, the Willamette Valley Old-Time Social in Eugene, Oregon May 3rd-6th. The Social will include a Thursday night kickoff party 1st National Taphouse, a Friday night BBQ jam fest, and workshops on Saturday at The Shedd for old-time fiddle, banjo, guitar, dance and voice, including one with two-time Grammy-nominated fiddler Bruce Molsky and his Mountain Drifters! Saturday evening will offer flatfoot dance lessons with Rebecca Stout and a big traditional square dance with The Horsenecks and Gabe Strand calling at the W.O.W. Hall. The whole weekend will finish off with a Sunday brunch and later that evening, a farewell concert with The Local Honeys at Sam Bond’s Brewing.
