Jimmy Martin and Judith Martin walk into a bar…
As an auxilary to the Taborgrass course, The Sessions is your local bluegrass refinery. We take your raw material(songs), send them through the juicer, and out comes a delicious product that you can share with your kith and kin.
Bluegrass is a group sport; no matter how many songs you know, the essence of this music is the manner in which you function in a group. Simply being able to lead a song, from beginning to end, can be a fairly nebulous challenge, and the tools that allow us to do that aren’t always obvious. We cover things like kick-offs, split-breaks, end-tags, and all the other hyphenated stuff that makes bluegrass really great, as opposed to just great.
We convene every 3rd Sunday of the month at Strum Guitars, which is a vintage guitar store, bar, and venue.
Drop-in admission is $10/person.
Our students are largely Taborgrass veterans, but we encourage anybody with a desire to learn how to arrange songs they already know into a dressed-up product to attend.
