Our final event for the Willamette Valley Old-Time Social will feature the Local Honeys who will play a cozy farewell concert for us at the Foundry. This will be a wonderful way to finish off the weekend with some sweet tunes, and delicious pizza and beer from Sam Bond’s Brewing. The Local Honeys are comprised of Linda Jean Stokley and Montana Hobbs. Stokley is from the rolling hills of the Bluegrass, and Hobbs from the foothills of the Appalachian region. They have developed a sweet sound of the bluegrass kissing the mountains. Their songwriting often reflects subject matter that little girls ought not talk about. This element played a strong impact in the production and creation of their debut album, “Little Girls Actin’ Like Men. Including both traditional and original songs, “Little Girls” showcases the Honeys ability to tear into hard driving fiddle tunes, sing the high lonesome sound, and tell a damn good story.
Mud City Old-Time Society is hosting the third annual old-time music and dance celebration, the Willamette Valley Old-Time Social in Eugene, Oregon May 3rd-6th. The Social will include a Thursday night kickoff party 1st National Taphouse, a Friday night BBQ jam fest, and workshops on Saturday at The Shedd for old-time fiddle, banjo, guitar, dance and voice, including one with two-time Grammy-nominated fiddler Bruce Molsky and his Mountain Drifters! Saturday evening will offer flatfoot dance lessons with Rebecca Stout and a big traditional square dance with The Horsenecks and Gabe Strand calling at the W.O.W. Hall. The whole weekend will finish off with a Sunday brunch and later that evening, a farewell concert with The Local Honeys at Sam Bond’s Brewing.
