Jeff Menzies (http://jeffreymenzies.com/) is a luthier, sculptor, musician and lecturer who lives in Jamaica. For the last 10 years he has led banjo-building workshops in various cities in the United States. In just one intensive week Jeff guides each student through the process of making a gourd banjo or an open-back tackhead banjo with a wooden rim that sounds as beautiful as it looks. No woodworking or musical experience is required.
And now, he’s bringing one of his workshops to Portland! It’s happening the last week of June in the woodshop of the Global Homestead Garage in SE Portland. The cost is $695, materials included. And at the end of the week, you have your own banjo to love and cherish! E-mail Jeff (jeffsbanjer@yahoo.com) if you have any questions, and sign up NOW! Space is limited.
