Immerse yourself in traditional American music and dance at the Willamette Valley Old-Time Social, May 4th – May 7th in Eugene, OR!
Mud City Old-Time Society invites you to the region’s 2nd annual Willamette Valley Old-Time Social in Eugene, Oregon, May 4-7th, 2017. Come and be a part of the thriving Pacific Northwest old-time music scene and experience the community-building power of traditional American music and dance!
The Social will feature workshops for fiddle, banjo, guitar, singing, and square dance calling. There will be ton of jamming opportunities, so bring your acoustic instruments! We will have hosted jams for beginners or even for more experienced musicians who are new to old-time music. The organizers say, “Forget the frilly skirts and canned music of the square dancing you did in middle school, this is subversive square dancing at its best!”
Events will include a Thursday night kick-off party at 1st National Taphouse with Lake Toba, Slippery Slope String Band, Chico Schwall & Friends and The Eugene City Barnstormers. Friday night will offer a BBQ social and jam fest in West Eugene (RSVP online for details!) Saturday will feature the main event at the historic Vet’s Club from noon-midnight with workshops, performances, jamming and a massive square dance with Maris Otter and Flat Rock Stringband from Portland, Oregon tearing it up with Steph Noll calling hot squares. We will finish off the weekend with a Sunday farewell brunch at Fish Hawk farm for a final jamming opportunity before everyone heads back home!
Many thanks to our sponsors, Bubbaville, 2Towns Ciderhouse, 100 Mile Bakery, Deck Family Farm, Zigzag Mountain Farm and the Eugene City Barnstormers for partnering with us to make this event possible!
