This year is the 35th annual Sonny Hammond Gospel Show and have we got a treat for you! This year’s headliner is a reunion of the original Sunny South Band! The Sunny South was one of the premier bluegrass bands in the 80s. When Sonny passed away, the band did too. Then with the loss of Steve Waller, it was surely gone, but it’s being revived for this special show with original members Mike Stahlman, Dave Elliot and Steve Reischman. Tygh Trachsel will be on bass. This is a reunion of the band that the Gospel Show was named for, who were all founding members of the Oregon Bluegrass Association, so a very special once in a lifetime treat. They’ve been working up their set since September. Next up will be the Bethel Mountain Band. This seven member band is the real deal in bluegrass gospel music with beautiful close harmonies. And rounding out the night will be Annie Staninec and John Kael. Annie and John probably need no introduction, but they are members of Whiskey Deaf, Annie is the fiddle player for the Kathy Kalick Band and just wrapped up a tour with Rod Stewart.
The evening starts with jamming at 5:30 and the show starts at 7pm. Members are $10 and non-members are $12.
