At the Portland Open Bible Church their purpose and focus to offer assistance to those in need with their Community Pantry ministry. The food pantry serves local families by providing essential groceries during tough economic times. With 19.9% of our local area adults below the poverty level and 23% of children living in poverty there is a great need. The food pantry is run solely on donations. The pantry serves all areas in the State of Oregon. The institution is an equal opportunity provider. They believe everyone who is a customer of the pantry should be treated with dignity and respect. They recognize the great diversity in our community and strive to also provide food selections on our shelves that address those cultural differences in addition to our regular items. Everyone is welcome and served regardless of race, creed, color or belief system. They are community focused and wish to make a positive impact by initially ending hunger and in the future addressing the many other issues and needs that affect people living here.
